It Takes Imagination and Expertise to Make Tamara Day’s Designs Happen
Complete Home Concepts has had the pleasure and thrill of providing a variety of glass, mirror and fireplace products for HGTV’s “Bargain Mansions” series for two years.
By pleasure, we mean the respect we have for Tamara Day, who is a Kansas native and a champion of working with local vendors and locally-owned companies, like us. In fact, Tamara found Complete Home Concepts through a referral. That’s how the show works. Tamara decides what needs to be done. If it’s not in contractors’ or vendors’ wheelhouses, they know who can.
By thrill, we mean working with Tamera on her interesting projects, all located around the KC metro. With filming schedules, it can be a “beat-the-clock” scenario with as little as a day to absorb the design goal and deliver a product that pulls off the aesthetic and functional goals. But never fail, no matter how tight the schedule or seemingly impossible the idea, it always works. And, the end result is incredible.
A recent example is a home located in Kearney, Missouri, just north of the Kansas City metro. The entire home renovation debuted on HGTV in May to rave reviews, like most are. Did you catch the fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom? If you’re looking for the same design and fireplace upgrade for your home, Complete Home Concepts is your source.
The Living Room Fireplace
For the Kearney house, the wood burning fireplace was updated with Heat & Glo’s Supreme Gas Fireplace Insert. Unlike the old fireplace that was always open and provided -10% efficiency (yes, negative 10%), the Supreme is a gas fireplace insert with 77% efficiency. This insert fit into the old fireplace’s spot and allows the new homeowners to warm the entire lower floor. The Supreme transformed an old, cold wood burning fireplace into a room feature that brings warmth, beauty and pushbutton control to the living room.
Can you make the same upgrade? Usually, yes, as long as a gas line exists or can be run to your home. The difference in looks and functionality is a noticeable upgrade and well worth the investment.
The Master Bedroom Fireplace
Modern fireplace technology means you can add a fireplace anywhere, even in rooms where one didn’t exist before. A fireplace brings a cozy feel to a space, plus comfort when you factor in the warmth it provides when it’s cold outside.
We added a fireplace to the Kearney home’s master bedroom, Heat & Glo’s Mezzo gas fireplace. As you saw (or imagine if you missed the episode), the Mezzo was a beautiful touch, instantly making the bedroom an oasis.
Can you add a fireplace to a room that wasn’t built with one? Yes, with the same caveat as going from a wood burning to a gas fireplace. A gas line must be available or able to be run to the space. The Mezzo series is available in several sizes as well as see-through models. With optional heat management solutions, it can redistribute heat to other areas of the home or reduce wall temperatures if installed near a TV.
Why Wasn’t There a Shower Door Installed in the Kearney House’s Master Bath?
Tamara chose a gorgeous, heavy glass shower door for the master bath. It wasn’t shown during the episode because filming stops for no man. As you’ve probably experienced, there are delays in shipping across the commerce sector due to the pandemic. The shower door hadn’t arrived by the time Tamara’s crew filmed, but it is now installed and looks amazing.
The second-best thing to having Tamara Day renovate your home is getting the fireplace, glass and shower door expertise and products that she counts on for her Bargain Mansions projects. When it comes to complete renovations or upgrading a room in Kansas City homes, Complete Home Concepts is where you can find what’s #trending.
